This is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, mainly used for blood sugar control in adult type 2 diabetes patients, and may help to reduce weight. As a prescription drug, it must be strictly used according to medical advice and cannot be adjusted in dosage or used for non indication purposes.
mechanism of action
Simeglutide works by activating GLP-1 receptors:
Promote insulin secretion: rely on blood glucose level regulation to reduce the risk of high blood sugar.
Inhibit glucagon secretion: reduce liver glucose output.
Delayed gastric emptying: increases satiety and may reduce food intake.
Indications and Usage
Smeaglutide: It has multiple mechanisms of action. According to different drug doses and specifications, it has been approved in China as an indication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and long-term weight management (whether diabetes is combined or not) for overweight and obese patients.
Treatment of type 2 diabetes: It is used to assist diet and exercise to improve the blood sugar control of adult type 2 diabetes patients.
Weight management indication: Suitable for patients with severe obesity (BMI ≥ 30kg/m ²) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27kg/m ²) and weight related complications for weight management.
Usage: Subcutaneous injection once a week, dosage adjusted according to individual circumstances, usually starting from low doses in the initial stage to reduce side effects.
Common side effects
Gastrointestinal reactions: Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. are more common in the early stages of medication, and most of them are relieved with treatment.
Low blood sugar risk: When used in combination with other hypoglycemic drugs such as sulfonylureas and insulin, close monitoring of blood sugar is necessary.
Other: Headaches, fatigue, etc. may occur, and long-term safety data is still under study.
Precautions and taboos
Taboo population: Patients with a history of medullary thyroid cancer or family history, and patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome (MEN2) are contraindicated.
Special populations: Patients with a history of pancreatitis and renal dysfunction should be carefully evaluated for risk, and should not be used during pregnancy or lactation.
Long term monitoring: Regularly check blood glucose, kidney function, and thyroid function.
Medical guidance
Simeglutide needs to be used with a prescription, and patients cannot purchase or change their treatment plan on their own. If severe abdominal pain (which may indicate pancreatitis), persistent vomiting, thyroid nodules, and other symptoms occur, medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention sought. Diabetes patients need to combine diet control, exercise and regular follow-up to achieve comprehensive management
